Goulburn Valley Health receives grant as part of Cancer Australia’s “Partnership for Culturally Safe Cancer Care” program.

Congratulations to our regional network member Goulburn Valley Health on receiving a grant recently as part of Cancer Australia's "Partnership for Culturally Safe Cancer Care" program.

In partnership with Border Medical Oncology Research Unit, Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative, Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO), GenesisCare Shepparton, Hume Regional Integrated Cancer Service (HRICS), and Murray Primary Health Network, Goulburn Valley Health will be partnering with First Nations communities in the region to implement culturally safe access and navigation in the cancer system.

We are grateful that the Australian Government is investing in programs that will help close the gap for First Nations communities, and improve access to culturally safe and community-controlled care on Country.

The RTN-Vic ReViTALISE project, funded by the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) grant, has also been working closely with Goulburn Valley Health on the Lotjpa Yapaneyepuk project, to create educational resources about cancer clinical trials for First Nations communities. Production of an animation video, a lived experience video and a video for health professionals are now underway.
