Barwon Health and Latrobe Regional Health named ‘Champion Sites’ for palliative care

Congratulations to Barwon Health for being named a top-performing site in a global initiative led by the University of Technology Sydney’s IMPACCT (Improving Palliative, Aged and Chronic Care through Clinical Research and Translation).

As part of the IMPACCT RAPID program, the Barwon Health Palliative Care unit, including ReViTALISE research fellow Miriam Ferres, achieved the highest patient recruitment numbers internationally in the previous quarter, earning the coveted “Champion Site” status. Latrobe Regional Health, also a ReViTALISE collaborator, earned the title in the recent quarter.

RAPID involves multi-centre data collection to assess the long-term effectiveness of interventions, including medications and nursing practices. Barwon Health’s expertise and leadership have led to an invitation to join the RAPID General Committee.

We are proud to be collaborating with these leaders in innovative global healthcare on our Palliative & Supportive Care initiative. We applaud their ongoing commitment to advancing palliative care research and their role in improving cancer outcomes for regional Victorians.
